Week of Service 2012

Servant Leadership Activities for the Week of October 8-13

Monday

  • A 7th Grade PE Class will go to Fox Elementary to serve as Math Buddies to 2nd graders
  • 1st Grade will prepare socks stuffed with toiletry items and breakfast foods
  • 3rd Grade will go to the Ronald McDonald House for a tour and to deliver Welcome Bags filled with treats

Tuesday

  • 2nd Grade will go to Easter Seals for a tour and deliver needed items for the organization
  • 1st Grade will go to Open Door for a tour and to deliver the prepared socks for participants in the Showering Program
  • The JV and V Softball teams will go to the Ronald McDonald House and will prepare dinner for the guests

Wednesday

  • The PK children will prepare hospitality bags for wounded soldiers at Fort Benning and Chaplain Jay Hearn will speak to the students about serving the wounded soldiers.
  • The Upper School Service Council will have a planning meeting about the US Day of Service
  • The Volleyball JV and V teams will conduct a clinic at the Girls Inc. Kolb Center
  • Bendu Adams, Ricks alum and Mercer student will arrive to spend 4 days in Columbus, helping to pack shoeboxes for Ricks and visiting faculty and students

Thursday

  • A 7th Grade PE Class will go to Fox Elementary to serve as Math Buddies to 2nd graders
  • Kindergartners will walk to Brookside Glen to sing to the residents and present treat bags filled with toiletry items and other goodies

Friday

  • Intermediate School Students will clean up the Brookstone Campus for Help the Hooch
  • Ricks Shoeboxes will be packed for shipping to Liberia

Saturday

  • Middle School Service Activity - Help the Hooch Clean up at Lake Oliver Marina
  • Habitat for Humanity Work Day on the Brookstone House

Tuesday

IS Day of Service
4th Graders will travel to 3 different agencies where they will plant flowers and learn about the organizations:  Easter Seals, Twin Cedars, and Open Door Community Center
5th Graders will go to the Columbus Botanical Gardens where they will plant flowers and tour the organization
