2014 Immunization Message
I am excited to serve as the school nurse for Brookstone School beginning with the 2014-2015 school year. As the school nurse, I want to share with you some new requirements for the upcoming school year, specific to Georgia students. The new law requires seventh graders to have the tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap) and meningococcal (meningitis-MCV4) immunizations prior to entering school. All children born on or after January 1, 2002, who are attending seventh grade must have received one dose of Tdap vaccine and one dose of the meningococcal vaccine. This law also applies to students new to Georgia in grades 8-12, who must show proof they have received the Tdap and MCV4 vaccines. By protecting our students against these diseases, we are keeping them, and our community, healthier and free from vaccine preventable diseases. Please contact your healthcare provider to discuss obtaining these vaccines.
I look forward to serving you and your child in the upcoming school year. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about the required immunizations or any health related issue concerning your child. You may send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or contact me via my cell phone at 706 718-0793.
